Attending your first counseling appointment can feel both exciting and a bit nerve-wracking. During the session, you can expect to meet with a professional who will create a safe, non-judgmental space for you to talk about your concerns. The counselor will likely ask about you and goals for therapy. This helps them understand your situation and tailor their approach to best support you. It's normal to feel unsure or emotional, but know that the counselor is there to listen and guide you at your own pace. The first session is about going over confidentiality, building rapport and setting the foundation for your therapeutic journey.
